10.09.15 To start the course, as a class we looked at a series of artistic elements in divided groups. Looking at practitioners, materials and processes. For example, The Cabanas Brothers (practitioners), flocking (process) and paper (material).

At first I found it hard to work in groups and effectively and equally share ideas. However, the warming up task of sitting in various groups of people and getting to know them helped me to loosen up and express my ideas more.

I also struggled a bit with understanding the task and what our expected outcomes should be. I had asked a number of people from my class and other classes and they are experiencing the same difficulties.

I believe this is all part of the process of being a new student. I will learn and work on my mistakes if i do make any.

11.09.15 Getting into a small group and discussing our second task.

i found it very useful to work on a group project independently as we had a lot of spare time to slowly and properly digest each others information and ideas. When looking at each of the given practitioners, materials and processes we all had very different ideas and interpretations, allowing my own thoughts to broaden.

Together, we made a mini plan of what we should do over the weekend and on the following monday which was a great way to help my understanding of the project. I also enjoyed drawing rough thumbnail sketches as it allowed me to get whatever i had in my head onto paper.

14.09.15 Meeting as a group in the library to develop our ideas and understanding.

In a group we all went and found books in the library for our practitioner (Akatre), material (Body) and process (collage). As we had made a group chat online over the weekend, we were able to transfer ideas and information over to each other with ease, i personally found this really useful as we were properly communicating and getting passionate and stuck into our task.

Using the library has really helped me to look at books other than online resources to get inspired. I enjoy how open and relaxing the library is too - there is no hectic feel.

15.09.15 Our second session as a group.

In this session, we were able to sit and talk with our tutors about our difficulties on Workflow and be practically shown how to do everything we were concerned about correctly. I found that this really helped and took a lot of weight off my shoulders.

We were also given the choice to work in our sketchbooks or Workflow which was really useful as it was an option on what you could do in the session.

17.09.15 Presenting plans to your group

It was interesting to see the different varieties of ideas, plans and influences from everyone in our group. However, I found SITTING around and LISTENING for too long was boring for me and inevitably makes me lose concentration. I believe that if we divided our group into smaller groups to present less work to less people, it would have been more interesting and lively.
